Requirements

Ok, I want to get the VeloAMP, but what else do I need to build a kickass mobile sound system?

Well, first of all, we assume that you are here because you already have an electric bike. That's because the VeloAMP is specifically designed for ebikes and take advantage of the high power battery pack that comes with them.

If you don't have an ebike yet and you want one, check out this website: www.ebikes.ca. They have a wealth of information for the DIY enthusiast.

The VeloAMP can accept a wide range of battery voltages. If your ebike's battery pack is anywhere between 24V to 72V, you are good to go!

(Actually, the VeloAMP takes anywhere from 20V to 84V. That's plenty of margin for a 24V pack under load or a 72V pack plugged into the charger and fully charged.)

Obtain a set of moderately sized speakers. They can be 4 ohm or 8 ohm impedance, and preferably can handle up to 50W. Stand-alone bookshelf speakers work well, so do some boombox speakers.

The choice of speakers can GREATLY affect sound quality! Other considerations are whether the speaker housing and speaker cone is waterproof, and how easy it is to mount to your ebike.

Once you got the speakers, you can mount them on your bike anyway you want -- in your milk crate, with bungee chords, on your rear rack.

A great way to carry the speakers on your bike is to put pannier clips on your speakers. That way you can quickly attach or detach the speakers from your bike rack, without having to permanently mount heavy speakers on your bike.

Attach your newly mounted speakers to the VeloAMP with some speaker wires.

VeloAMP works with any iPod, radio receiver, CD or MP3 player.

Plug in your 3.5mm stereo audio jack, load up the tunes, and hit the play button...

And Voila! Your audio-augmented electric bike is ready to pump out gorgeous-sounding tracks, put smiles on stranger's face, and start spontaneous dance parties in the street whereever you go! Everyone will be ecstatic and the world will be a better place.

And that's a guarantee! :-)
